John, your future landlord will look for late payments in your credit file. If there are none, then he/she should be satisfied. But, landlords do look for previous references from your previous landlords. If there are none, you may treated like someone looking for their first apartment ever. Do you know your FICO credit score currently? I'd recommend getting your FICO score just to see where you are. It's always a good idea to know your credit situation before you apply for an apartment. You want to know about any "surprises" before you apply.

If you just started this tactic in July, you will need a couple of months for these items to impact your credit score. Here's one more idea, pull your credit score and credit report and take it to an apartment that you are not interested in and get an opinion on your credit worthiness. This tactic is a bit more work, but might provide a good insight into your situation.

GOOD MORNING, MY NAME IS JOHN MAC KENZIE AND I AM CONTEMPLATING A RELOCATION MOVE IN THE EARLY SPRING OF 2010. I WILL BE SEARCHING FOR A APARTMENT TO LIVE IN. I RECENTLY GET A SECURED CREDIT CARD TO PAY MY PHONE BILL AND SEVERAL DOCTOR BILLS. THEY ARE BOTH SMALL BILLS. BUT I ALWAYS PAY ON TIME OR AHEAD OF TIME. WHEN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE APARTMENT COMPLEX RUNS A CREDIT CHECK ON ME, HOW WILL MY BILL PAYMENTS REFLECT ON ME? I JUST STARTED DOING THIS THE BEGINNING OF JYLY 2009 AND I AM FEARFUL THAT I WILL NOT GET A GOOD CREDIT RATING. I PAY MY RENT TO MY BROTHER WHOM I LIVE WITH AND HE PAYS AL UTILITIES. HE RENTS THE HOUSE AND I HAVE NO RECEIPTS TO SHOW AND I CAN'T PAY THE RENT WITH MY CREDIT CARD AS HE DOES NOT OWN THE HOUSE. I THINK I SERIOUSLY NEED HELP IN THIS MATTER, PLEASE ADVISE ME IN WAYS TO GET A DECENT CREDIT RATING.. THANK YOU..RESPECTFULLY..JOHN MAC KENZIE
